At Mabel Dental Lab, we provide dental device fabrication for a variety of cases, including removable, implant, and partial dentures. Our dentures provide an authentic, discrete appearance customized to your patient’s preferences. Customization options include color, metal-free materials, and combinable clasps. The fabrication process is as follows:

Send Us Your Case

To begin the fabrication process for your partial dentures, we require a completed prescription Rx form and a mold of the patient’s teeth. This mold can be made with physical imprints by using an impression tray or digital files. Our technicians use these molds to check the overall fit and application of the dental device during manufacturing.

When packing the physical case order, we recommend that you use bubble wrap to prevent the mold from shifting during shipping. Multiple cases should be in different plastic bags with their specific prescription stapled to the outside to allow us to accurately identify each one.

Fabricating Partial Dentures

The fabrication process may change depending on the number of items we need to create for each case. A metal framework can be combined with TCS® Unbreakable flexible material to create a more estethic partial. Clasps are also customizable, giving patients the option of clear, metal, or tooth-colored attachments. Some of the different partial denture types include:

Metal Partials

We offer a standard SLM (selective laser melting) framework, Titanium and a Dentsply Vitallium® 2000 framework. Since we use the purest forms of chrome cobalt alloy, it means that we do not use nickel or beryllium. This process creates a partial denture that is both strong and biocompatible.

SLM works by melting layers of powder material with a laser, fusing them together to create an accurate metal frame. Frames are then placed back onto the original model to test the overall fit. These frames can reduce tissue irritation and stability issues, improving speech capabilities. We also print our Titanium high quality frames.

To make Dentsply Vitallium® 2000 frames, we create a realistic sculpture of any missing teeth. A mold is then made from that custom sculpture, allowing us to cast a replica out of pure alloy. Partial dentures made from these frames are fracture-resistant, allowing us to fabricate lighter partials with improved functionality.

Flexible Partials

For metal-free dentures, we offer TCS® Unbreakable flexible material. This option is a comfortable thermoplastic nylon, a strong, stiff plastic that is lighter than metal. Initially, the plastic arrives in the form of small, colorful beads that represent the hue of the patient’s gumline. These beads are then melted down and poured into a mold sculpted by a technician, creating a uniform piece.

Thermoplastic nylon materials have a translucent property that lets the wearer’s natural gum color show through the dental device. A clear base blends the device with the surrounding tissue. Further discretion is provided due to the material’s stain-resistant quality.

Acrylic Flipper Partials

Acrylic flippers are removable partial dentures that maintain tooth position by filling gaps between teeth. For this process, we use a physical mold of the patient’s teeth to lay the acrylic base and bond the prosthetic teeth to it. Prosthetic teeth are hand sculpted and then cast with dental-grade resin, providing a realistic translucency that matches the wearer’s existing teeth.

Once the prosthetic teeth are ready, a technician will place the clasps onto the replica of the wearer’s teeth. The clasps are covered with liquid acrylic while shaping the base. Following this step, a technician will then set the prosthetic teeth into place. As the acrylic sets, the device cures into one singular piece.

Turnaround Times

The turnaround time for your patient’s partial denture order depends on the type of framework we are creating. For flexible partials, metal frames, or a combination of the two, the average fabrication time takes eight days to complete or six days from digital impressions.

Most clients should receive their dentures within eight business days, not including holidays or weekends. For patients on a tight schedule, we do offer a rush service. You need to preschedule your rush service by contacting us directly.

For nationwide shipping, we use UPS (United Parcel Service) anywhere in the continental United States. We ship your order within one to two business days directly to your practice. UPS offers a comprehensive tracking system that updates your package’s location at every entry point.
