Sleep Apnea & Snoring Devices
Silent Nite® sl | EMA® | TAP® 3 TL | dreamTAP™ | OASYS Hinge Appliance™
Snoring can be a real problem, not only for the person who snores, but also for the partner and other family members who live with the snorer. However, there is a dentist-prescribed solution for a more restful night’s sleep: Silent Nite® sl. This affordable device is flexible, thin and comfortable for your patients, and it exhibits documented clinical success in mitigating or even preventing the disruptive, unhealthy effects of snoring and sleep apnea. The Silent Nite sl is the most popular current product that we offer.
Silent Nite sl positions the lower jaw forward using special Side-Link connectors that are attached to upper and lower trays. These trays are comprised of a soft inner layer with a hard outer layer that is durable and BPA-free. The new, improved connectors are stronger than those found on the original Silent Nite and are easily interchangeable by the patient. This intraoral appliance is indicated for patients with a minimum of eight teeth per jaw and a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less.
The EMA® (Elastic Mandibular Advancement) oral appliance is a customized removable appliance created for the noninvasive treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The appliance is designed to both advance the mandible and open the bite to allow for less restricted airflow during sleep.
EMA devices help promote a deeper, more restful sleep by preventing snoring and relieving the symptoms of OSA. The EMA does not interfere with breathing through the mouth, even in cases of congested nasal passages. It has many options for advancement with nine strap lengths (13 mm–21 mm) and four different elastic tension options, indicated by color. The shorter the strap, the farther the mandible is advanced. The 36 different straps allow for the most effective repositioning of the jaw with maximum comfort. Due to the varying elastic bands, non-restricted lateral/protrusive movement is possible while wearing the device.
The EMA is indicated for patients with either a full or partial set of natural teeth. The patient’s remaining teeth should have sufficient height of contour for the device to gain retention at the gingival third, and the edentulous ridge must be fully captured in the impression.

The TAP® 3 TL is part of the TAP family of appliances for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Based on the same principle as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the TAP (Thornton Adjustable Positioner) was designed to keep the airway open to allow for air to pass. A constricted or collapsed airway causes snoring and OSA. The TAP device holds the lower jaw in a forward position, maintaining a clear airway to reduce snoring and improve breathing.
Each TAP device consists of an upper and lower tray that fit over the teeth. Fitting more comfortably in the mouth than the original TAP, the TAP 3 TL features smaller hardware that provides more room for the tongue and allows the lips to close. On the TAP 3 TL, a hook mechanism attached to the upper tray fits into a socket attached to the lower tray and positions the lower jaw forward. Three hook sizes offer increased range of adjustment. An adjustment key enables the patient to adjust the protrusion of the lower jaw while wearing the device until a comfortable and effective position is achieved.

The dreamTAP™ is the newest addition to the TAP® family of appliances for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The Thornton Adjustable Positioner (TAP) is based on the same principle as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and is designed to keep the airway open to allow air to pass. A constricted or collapsed airway causes snoring and OSA.
Developed with advanced dental technology, the dreamTAP reduces sleep apnea-associated health risks without the need for surgery, medications or other more cumbersome therapy. The dreamTAP holds the lower jaw in a forward position, maintaining a clear airway to reduce snoring and improve breathing. Plus, the design of the dreamTAP results in more tongue space for the patient. Three hook sizes offer increased range of adjustment, and the use of Cr-Co alloy prevents corrosion and discoloration of the dreamTAP device. An adjustment key enables the patient to modify the lower jaw’s protrusion until a comfortable, effective position is achieved.
Each TAP device consists of an upper and lower tray that fit over the teeth. For lower-priced treatment options, the TAP 3 TL and the original TAP are also available. On the TAP 3 TL, a hook mechanism attached to the upper tray fits into a socket attached to the lower tray and positions the lower jaw forward.
